45,000 bph is the rating for the new glass line at Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Co.’s Knockmore Hill facility in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. This line handles bottles ranging in size from 113 ml to 1.5 litres, and fitted with crowns or screw caps.
Existing machines have here been supplemented by new ones, thus creating a complete new line for filling glass bottles.

• Pressant Universal 1N depalletiser
  The Pressant Universal bulk glass sweep-off depalletiser operates in the medium to high output range. The containers are pushed onto a discharge table one layer at a time, and from there passed to the bottling line.
• Robot 3A depalletiser
  The single-column Robot 3A unloads the returnable crates from the pallet. The machine’s gentle travel and deceleration dynamics ensure that the crates of empties are dependably handled.
• Blitzpac unpacker
  The intermittently operating unpacker uses a gripper head to remove the empty bottles from the crates arriving in a linear configuration, and deposits them on the bottle discharge table.
• Lavatec KD bottle washer
  An existing Lavatec KD bottle washer has been integrated into the line, after being overhauled and relocated.
• Rinser-filler Bloc-synchronisation
  The newly installed Variojet rinser has been electronically Bloc-synchronised with an existing filler, thus creating a compactly dimensioned unit that meets the toughest of performance and quality standards.
• Topmodul modularised labeller
  The Topmodul modularised labeller enables labelling stations not currently needed to be decoupled and replaced by the stations actually required. For instance, two cold-glue labelling stations for body, shoulder and back labelling can at need be replaced by two APS stations for applying pressure-sensitive labels. The result is a compact-size unit that provides flexible labelling options on a single machine.
• Checkmat 707 E inspection unit
  The compactly dimensioned inspection unit is installed directly at the line, and uses a sensor system to check for the presence of a label.
• Variopac TFS non-returnables packer
  After the containers have been grouped, they are provided with a tray support in the Variopac TFS and then wrapped in film. In the downstream shrink tunnel, the film is shrink-fitted to create a compact, stable pack. As a further option, this machine can also handle pack groupings without a tray and merely wrap them in film.
• Checkmat LKK inspection unit
  Before the crates enter the packer, a Checkmat LKK inspects the empty plastic crates for foreign bodies, missing partitions, protruding or bent handles and deviations from an optimum crate geometry. This means that only flawless crates continue in the line, ensuring an optimum brand image at the point of purchase.
• Blitzpac packer
  The bottles arriving at the container table are picked up by the packer’s gripper head, and placed in the crates as they arrive in a linear configuration. The insertion frame integrated in the gripper head ensures that the bottles are properly deposited in the crates.  
• SynCo, MultiCo and PalCo conveyor systems
  The entire conveyor routes between the line’s individual components are covered by Krones systems. The SynCo container conveyor system transports the empty and filled bottles in mass flow from the unpacker via the washer to the packer. From there, the MultiCo pack conveyor system passes the packs to the palletiser. The loaded pallets are then transported on the PalCo pallet conveyors to the stretch wrapper, and from there to the warehouse.
